Kena Ford and The Second Grade Mix Up
by Melissa Thomson, Illustrated, by Frank Morrison

Keena Ford is an outgoing, not so typical spunky second grader. In this book Keena manages to take the word "mischievous" to a whole new level.  For Instance she can't manage to correct a mistake of writing her birthday backwards; 9-2 instead of 2-9.  Especially after the teacher announces that chocolate cake will be served for the birthday girl, who isn't really having a birthday.

Kena Ford is often compared to Junie B Jones but has a bit more flair.  Like Jones she has a series of books, which all succeed in developing Keena as the main character in many different settings.

Beginning readers will find this book fun to read, and it definitely has its laugh out loud moments.
