ONE CHILD, ONE SEED : A South African Counting Book
By Kathryn Cave, Photography by Gisele Wulfsohn

This selection is a wonderful blend of counting, mixed with the beauty of rural South African culture. What a rarity of a gem to find.

This book follows Nothando as she plants a pumpkin seed, and with the help of her extended family grows a pumpkin.  In the end everyone enjoys pumpkin stew.  The book offers a recipe for the stew.  This is a good read aloud picture book. Ages: 3 and up
