Grace At Christmas

Grace is disappointed that she cannot have a fairytale Christmas with both her father and her mother. Her father lives in Gambia, and her parents are divorced.
Grace's grandmother invites friends to stay the night for Christmas. Grace is upset because she has to make changes to her routine and sleep on the couch. However, grace has a change of heart once she discovers that the little girl who spends the night wishes she had spent Christmas with both of her parents as well.

Written by Jackie Robinson's daughter this book tells the story of the Robinson's moving into Brooklyn in the 1940s. During this era there were not many black families in Brooklyn. So the neighbors signed a petition to keep them out. Everyone signed the petition except Steve's family. They were a nice Jewish Family who became friends with the Robinson family.
When Christmas came Jackie Robinson took Steve's family a Christmas tree because they did not have one. But to his dismay he discovered that Jewish families do not celebrate Christmas. However, the two families were able to learn about each others religious beliefs and become great friends.
